Newcastle United have been reportedly chasing a new striker in the market and have been linked with Hull City’s Abel Hernandez, who is approaching the end of his contract with the Tigers and will be available on a free transfer.

Reports from Uruguayan outlet Ovacion have raised the news of Newcastle’s interest but HITC makes it clear that the Magpies are not alone in their interest, as Scottish champions Celtic are also chasing the signature of the Uruguay international.

However, Newcastle should be considered favourites to win the battle for the South American due to the financial strength they hold over Brendan Rodgers’ side but it will still come as a concern for Rafael Benitez, who is keen to avoid issues in the summer market.

Hernandez may also feel he has something to prove in the Premier League, having failed to make the mark previously, but he’s found his form in the second-tier, scoring eight goals in ten appearances this season.
