Newcastle United have surpassed expectations in their return to the Premier League this season, with an upturn in form since January propelling the Magpies up the standings and towards a top-half finish.

The work from Rafael Benitez on a restricted budget has earned widespread praise and has raised optimism for the Tyneside outfit next season, although a respected pundit has issued a warning to the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry stated he’s unsure as to how far Newcastle can go and believes a return to European football is a long way off.

“How far can they go? I think this is already amazing but how far can they go next year? Can they realistically get into the top six? I would say now on the record, no. I think what Newcastle has done is amazing.”

Newcastle have four matches to play this season against West Brom, Watford, Tottenham and Chelsea, while they currently sit three points behind Leicester in ninth place.
