Newcastle United have surpassed expectations this season and have secured their Premier League status for another campaign, with the Tyneside outfit fighting for a spot in the top-half of the table.

However, Rafael Benitez is aware that there is plenty of work to do off the field as he begins preparations for another battle next season and he’s pleaded for experience ahead of the transfer window, after seeing his side fall to defeat against Everton.

Asked what the difference was between Newcastle and Everton after the game, Benitez is quoted by The Chronicle as stating:

“Do the numbers. If you do the numbers, it is very easy. The difference is they have players with experience in the Premier League. I don’t know how much they spent this year exactly, but it is very simple. For us to come here and expect to beat them; it is not easy.”

“We have a chance but normally, when you go away against these teams, it is not easy to get anything.”

Benitez’s future at St. James’ Park is uncertain but he’s revealed he wants to stay, although he’s seeking assurances from the club ahead of the summer window.
