Newcastle United have enjoyed an immense upturn in form since the January transfer window, with a run of four consecutive victories seeing Rafael Benitez’s side surpass their pre-season target of 40 points.

With the Magpies’ Premier League status for another season all but confirmed, Benitez can start to cast one eye towards his transfer business this summer and widespread reports have stated that the club are keen to make the loan acquisitions of Kenedy and Martin Dubravka permanent.

Now, Sky Sports journalist Dave Jones has confirmed those reports during coverage of Newcastle’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal and, despite stating the club face a challenge in landing Kenedy from Chelsea, have suggested a deal to sign Dubravka from Sparta Prague could be close.

“Newcastle would love to keep him (Kenedy). The problem is his form has alerted one or two of Europe’s major clubs. So that might be a bit of a barrier.”

“They have more chance, they think, of making the loan signing of their goalkeeper Martin Dubravka permanent. Our sources tell us the option is there, the intention is there, to make it a permanent signing. They just haven’t got it over the line just yet.”

Dubravka has provided a major boost to Newcastle, boasting three clean sheets from seven Premier League appearances.
