Newcastle have issued a difficult campaign in their return to the top-flight but they’ve excelled in their quest, although there is still plenty of uncertainty orientating around St. James’ Park.

The Magpies remain up for sale and negotiations are ongoing, whilst Rafael Benitez’s own future is uncertain as he continues his quest to earn assurances from the board in the market- but it seems that there might be a breakthrough.

The Chronicle states that Newcastle are ready to issue a license to spend to the Spanish boss and will also hand the former Liverpool and Chelsea manager a new contract, securing his status at the club and ending speculation on his future.

Newcastle will continue to live within their means and a new contract is already on the table for Benitez, with the board relaxed despite the fact that he has just one-year remaining on his contract at St. James’ Park.

However, Newcastle will not announce the figure they will issue Benitez to spend as they don’t want rivals to be aware of their budget.
