Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez bolstered his side significantly in the January market with the additions of loanees Kenedy and Martin Dubravka but the signing of Islam Slimani hasn’t paid off so far.

The Algerian has struggled for fitness since moving to the club on-loan from Leicester City and Newcastle will return to the market this summer as they seek to improve their forward lines, which could see them reignite their interest in a January target.

The Daily Mirror state Newcastle are poised to revive their interest in Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen this summer, having failed with a move in the mid-season, and an £18m price-tag is being reported.

Jorgensen scored 21 goals and provided 11 assists last season but has struggled to get anywhere near that tally this term, finding the net just once during 2018- which will certainly be a concern for Newcastle fans.

The Danish international does have the capability to be an asset for the Magpies, although other targets should certainly be considered.
