Newcastle United have been handed a huge piece of news ahead of the summer transfer window, as it’s suggested that a long-term target could become available on the market.

Sports Witness cites reports that claim Dutch forward Bas Dost has made it clear he wants to leave Sporting Lisbon this summer and his agent is flying to Portugal this week to trash out an agreement regarding a potential sale.

Dost, capped 15 times for the Netherlands, was widely linked with a move to St. James’ Park last summer, although reports of a €40m approach were way off the mark, and the 28-year-old striker’s fallout with the Sporting president has increased the likelihood of a deal taking place.

Bruno De Carvalho launched a sensational attack on his side after their Europa League quarter-final first-leg defeat to Atletico Madrid on Thursday, which led to a number of players hitting back and demanding respect.

That merely added further fuel to the fire though as Bruno sensationally flew off the handle, suspending 19 senior players, including Bas Dost, to leave his side in complete disarray.

Rather understandably, Bas Dost is not happy and it presents Newcastle with the chance of securing a deal this weekend.
