Three consecutive victories for Newcastle United have pushed the Magpies away from the relegation zone and safety is on the verge of being secured on Tyneside, which could then lead to another significant boost.

The Sun quotes Rafael Benitez as stating ahead of Saturday’s victory over Leicester that he’s focused on the battle for survival and will decide on his future once that is secure- and he’s handed fans encouragement by saying preparations for next year have already begun.

“Today I was talking with some players about next season – when we will start, what we will do. Everybody needs to know more or less what is going on. You cannot say everything because still you don’t know everything, but at least you can start working because players need to know their futures.”

“It is important to start working little by little. But a lot of questions that people will be asking about my future or whatever, at the moment it is just about 40 points. We don’t need to talk anything else.”

It’s another boost for Newcastle, following reports that the club are ready to attempt to make the loan stints for Kenedy and Martin Dubravka permanent upon securing safety.
