Newcastle United have stormed towards Premier League safety with a fine run of form, which included four consecutive victories prior to the narrow defeat against Everton on Monday evening.

However, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for the Magpies this season as Rafael Benitez’s side initially struggled against the drop, previously sitting as low as 18th, and Ayoze Perez has admitted it’s been a tough campaign.

Speaking to the Shields Gazettethe Spain ace said:

“Hopefully, it will be another great atmosphere at home with our fans and we need to keep our momentum at home. We’re doing really well at the minute. After this defeat, we have to come back to training and make sure we’re ready for the next one.”

“You have to keep going. The goal (of achieving Premier League safety) is done, but you have to keep going until the end. There are still four games to play. What is true is that we have to keep going and getting points.”

“We have a big chance to finish in the top. “That would be an amazing season. That’s where we have to keep our focus and getting points.”

Perez has been in fine form this season, scoring in his last two home appearances and taking his tally to the season to five.
