Newcastle have plenty of business planned for the summer transfer window, when Rafael Benitez will look to significantly improve his squad after a campaign where the Magpies have struggled for consistency.

A vital victory against fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town has put the Tyneside giants on the brink of retaining their Premier League status for another season, which has allowed Benitez to cast on eye towards the transfer market.

Newcastle have benefitted from the fine performances of loan duo Kenedy and Martin Dubravka, who the club are keen on signing permanently this summer, whilst Islam Slimani, on-loan from Leicester City, finally made his debut in the weekend’s victory over the Terriers.

Slimani will now be looking to make an impression before the end of the season but Newcastle will have to wait to see if they can land the Algerian on a permanent basis, as Leicester boss Claude Puel has insisted nothing will be decided until the end of the campaign.

Quoted by The ChroniclePuel said:

“He is a Leicester player, like all of those on loan. We will have discussions about the situation of other players at the end of the season.”

Slimani will be on the sidelines once again this weekend when Newcastle travel to face the Foxes, as he’s unable to feature against his parent side.
