Newcastle United have caught the eye with their performances this season and it’s led to plenty of speculation, particularly surrounding highly-rated manager Rafael Benitez.

The experienced boss has led his side valiantly this season and a wealth of clubs, including Arsenal and Leicester City, have been attributed with an interest in the Spaniard – although he could be given the chance to return to his former stomping ground.

Italian outlet CalcioMercato cite reports that suggest Serie A title-chasers Napoli are keen to bring Benitez back to the club if they lose the services of highly-coveted manager Maurizio Sarri this summer, who has been linked with Chelsea.

Benitez spent two years in charge at Naples between 2013 and 2015, resigning at the end of the 2014/15 season and signing a three-year deal with Real Madrid, though he only last a few months at the Santiago Bernabeu.

A return to Napoli would be surprising for Benitez, with Newcastle having opened contract negotiations with their boss.
