While it may be tempting fate considering Premier League safety is yet to be mathematically secure at the time of writing, Newcastle supporters are already speculating on potential incoming transfers.
True to form, Rafa Benitez is refusing to become embroiled in transfer talk until his side is certain of their top-flight status for next season, although it’s widely known that the United boss already has his scouting department compiling reports on prospective targets across Europe.
A recent discussion thread was launched on the NUFC Reddit page entitled ‘Out of the teams likely to go down, which players would you take?‘ debating which players the Magpies should look to sign from the three teams that eventually drop down into the Championship.
Despite their respective positions and situations, each of the seven clubs fighting to stay up along with Newcastle have individuals that would improve on what Benitez is currently working with at St James’ Park – a supposed Championship-level squad consistently inspired to perform beyond its very obvious limitations by its manager.
And despite the fact some of these players are bound for the second-tier, they could still make an impact for Newcastle in the Premier League next term.
