Aleksandar Mitrovic continued his fine goalscoring form for Fulham since joining on loan from Newcastle with a brace in the victory over Sheffield United on Tuesday.

It’s now five goals in four games for the Serbia international whose red hot form in front of goal has propelled Fulham to within five points of the Championship promotion places and made a mockery of Rafa Benitez’s decision to loan him out.

Mitrovic now has as many goals in just over a month as Dwight Gayle has managed all season and one more than Joselu has registered in 20 Premier League matches. Islam Slimani, brought in to replace Mitrovic, is yet to kick a ball for Newcastle. Point proven?

And Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic was once again full of praise for the 23-year-old following another match-winning performance.

“He’s a quality player, he showed well with us and at the end he’s a proper striker, what we were looking for a long period,” Jokanovic told GetWestLondon.

“At the end, he scored two goals, he made great job for us, he protect and hold many balls and working well in of the goal.

“We have one weapon more in offensive set pieces, and for another side he can help us in the defensive set pieces too.

“At the end, what I said before, he’s a great signing for us and he start well, now he adapt himself and I believe he is enjoying the rest of the team and we expect he can be better in the games what is ahead of us.”
