Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is ready to reignite his interest in players he has previously missed out on in an attempt to finally secure their services.

The Magpies sit four points above the relegation zone heading into the international break and are optimistic about their chances of retaining their top-flight status, though Benitez knows he has work to do in the market.

Newcastle endured frustrations in January as they failed to get permanent deals over the line, instead signing Martin Dubravka, Kenedy and Islam Slimani on-loan, though advances were made towards other deals.

Reports now state that Newcastle are ready to reignite their interest in Besiktas ace Tolgay Arslan after failing with a move for the Turkish midfielder in January, though they face immense competition for the 27-year-old.

Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are all interested in a player who helped propel Besiktas to the Champions League knock-out stages, where they lost to Bayern Munich, and Newcastle may have to pay a high price to land the midfielder.
