Three players who should definitely start for Newcastle against Bournemouth

|

 Florian Lejeune

A few eyebrows were raised when Lejeune was named in the starting XI against Man United, particularly as he been absent for two month with a foot injury and his form prior to that had been unimpressive to say the least.

But the French defender returned with aplomb against the Red Devils and delivered a towering display alongside captain Jamaal Lascelles, making it a particularly difficult afternoon for Romelu Lukaku. Many feared the visitors would run riot when Lejeune’s name was printed on the team sheet before kick-off, but it proved to be the opposite as 26-year-old enjoyed his best game in a black and white shirt.

His goal-saving challenge from Alexis Sanchez was crucial and typified the spirit that defines this group of players under Benitez, whilst he also made telling contribution in attack as his header from Jonjo Shelvey’s free kick led to Matt Ritchie’s winning goal in the 65th minute.

Not a bad return to the side at all. Long may it continue!
