Former Galatasaray assistant manager Ayhan Akman believes winger Garry Rodrigues could flourish in the Premier League as he continues to be linked with a move to Newcastle.

The Cape Verde international was the subject of two unsuccessful bids from United, one in the summer and one in January, and Rodrigues himself appears keen to move to England after suggesting it will require a bid of €15 million to prise him away from Galatasaray.

It seems that the 27-year-old is emerging as one of Rafa Benitez’s key summer targets following an impressive campaign in Turkey, registering five goals and seven assists in 26 games to underline his talents in attack.

And Akman, who worked at Galatasaray when Dutch-born Rodrigues arrived from PAOK in January 2017,  is confident the winger is ready-made for the English top-flight despite some minor concerns over his end product.

“Garry is a very athletic player. The Premier League could suit him more (than the Turkish top flight) as there will be more space to exploit,” He told Fanatik.

“But he has to make better decisions, such as when to pass and when to shoot.”

Benitez is likely to revamp his attack in the summer, provided Newcastle avoid relegation back to the Championship, and Rodrigues looks set to feature prominently on his recruitment agenda.
