Newcastle United have seen a significant development in their takeover talks reported in the recent days, with news that a second interested party are set to make a formal bid.
Amanda Staveley and PCP have long been seen as the leading candidates to secure a deal for the Premier League side but discussions with Mike Ashley have so far not led to any concrete movement, leading the door open for other investors.
The Daily Mail now reports that Staveley faces competition in her interest of the Tyneside outfit, as a Dubai-based group are said to be mulling over an offer- and it’s claimed they will be able to meet Ashley’s asking price.
Takeover talks at Newcastle have been stuck in limbo for a while, with Staveley and Ashley unable to agree a fee, but this news could provide a fresh spark to the chase- although it won’t come as good news for fans hoping that a deal will be concluded swiftly.
Ashley, recently on holiday in Miami, is holding out for £350m for Newcastle but Staveley’s latest offer is said to be around the £300m mark.
