Newcastle United fans have been given a boost in the January transfer market with the news that the club remain in talks for one goalkeeping target.

The Daily MailĀ states the Magpies are still in discussions with Sparta Prague regarding a move for Slovakian international Martin Dubravka, who has emerged as a leading target for Rafael Benitez during this month’s window.

Sky SportsĀ reported earlier this week that Newcastle had seen a loan offer rejected, which many considered to be the end of this potential transfer, but a deal could very much be on- as long as the Magpies agree to Sparta’s terms.

The Czech side reportedly want a clause inserted into any loan deal that would make a signing permanent at the end of the season, although it’s not clear whether that’s something Rafael Benitez and his team are willing to offer.

Benitez is keen to complete his transfer business swiftly though, wanting to complete his business this week, so any decision made will have to be swift.
