Newcastle United look set to show their intentions in the January transfer window after reports stated they’ve launched an eleventh hour approach to hijack a striking deal.
Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones states that Newcastle, along with West Brom, have made late advances to hijack Crystal Palace’s deal to sign Diafra Sakho from West Ham- which is believed to be in the region of £12m.
It’s no secret that Rafael Benitez is keen to improve his attacking options this month, with the Magpies struggling for consistency in the final third, and reports earlier in the week claimed an enquiry for the Senegalese forward had been made.
The 28-year-old African ace now faces a decision on where he’d like to move and Newcastle may be optimistic, as they’d be able to offer first-team assurances that their fellow Premier League sides may not be able to offer.
That’s likely to be crucial in Sakho’s decision, as he seeks regular football ahead of his nation’s World Cup this summer- where Senegal will fancy their chances in a group that puts them alongside Japan, Colombia and Poland.
