Newcastle United have completed a piece of business in the January transfer market but it does not regard an incoming deal.

The club have confirmed on their official website that defender Stuart Findlay has extended his spell with Scottish outfit Kilmarnock until the end of the season, having impressed in the first half of the campaign north of the border.

22-year-old Findlay has become an integral part of the side looking to secure a top-six finish in the SPL standings, making 16 appearances overall.

The young defender has made just one senior appearance for Newcastle and his long-term future remains in doubt due to the fact he has the likes of Jamaal Lascelles and Ciaran Clark ahead of him in the pecking order.

Kilmarnock may seek a permanent deal come the end of the season, should Newcastle be willing to sell, but for now the decision has been made for the defender to continue his development with Steve Clarke’s side.
