Newcastle United are poised for a frantic end to the January transfer window, as Rafael Benitez seeks to bolster his side in key areas ahead of the relegation battle that lies ahead in the second half of the season.
The Magpies have only managed to secure one signing this month, landing Kenedy on-loan from Chelsea, and it’s understood that Benitez is seeking at least two more additions in the market, one of which is a new striker.
Newcastle have scored just 22 times in 23 matches this season and need a considerable improvement in the final third if they’re to retain their Premier League status, which has led to Mike Ashley making funds available for a record-breaking deal.
However, Newcastle’s pursuit of Feyenoord forward Nicolai Jorgensen is in danger of falling apart as the Eredivisie champions are demanding a hefty price for the 27-year-old’s signature, which means Benitez may need to seek alternative options.
Thankfully, there’s plenty of strikers out there and Newcastle should look to this trio to provide a different option in the market.
