Newcastle United face a stern test ahead of them as they seek to end their woeful run of form in the Premier League and rise out of the relegation zone.

The Magpies have picked up just one point from the last 28 available, losing eight of their last nine, and Rafael Benitez is under pressure to rejuvenate the side in the January transfer window to improve their position.

Whilst all the discussions will orientate around incoming signings, outgoing deals are also likely and reports indicate that one player that is seemingly surplus to requirements will be handed an escape route.

The Sun states Turkish duo Goztepe and Sivasspor are keen on a move for Mohamed Diame, with the two teams keen on a move worth around £2.5m for the 30-year-old midfielder who has struggled to earn regular playing opportunities this season.

Diame’s contract expires at the end of next season and it’s extremely unlikely that the former Hull City man will be handed fresh terms, so Newcastle may jump at the opportunity to lower their wage bill and raise January funds in the New Year.
