Newcastle United are set for the biggest six weeks of their season, as they seek to bring an end to their woeful form in the Premier League and bolster their side with significant January additions.

The Magpies have endured a series of eight defeats in nine matches, which has seen Rafael Benitez’s side slump into the relegation zone- and the lack of a consistent attacker in front of goal has been a huge part of the problem.

That’s an issue that Benitez will look to resolve in January and The Sun states the Tyneside giants have held talks with Troyes winger Samuel Grandsir, who has impressed with the newly promoted Ligue 1 side this season.

The French U21 international has contributed two goals and four assists so far this season but his performances have not gone unnoticed, with Newcastle’s fellow strugglers Bournemouth also eyeing a January deal that could be worth £4m.

Troyes want to keep their star-man but know they’ll be unable to fend off interest from Premier League sides and a deal is certainly an affordable once for the Magpies, who want to add to their quality in wide areas.
