Newcastle United have been handed a positive piece of the news on the transfer market which suggests that a prime target could be available, as his side are planning moves for potential replacements.

Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun has been widely linked with a move to St. James’ Park in the January transfer window, after his thrilling performances for the Turkish side caught the eye and helped Besiktas seal progression into the Champions League Round of 16.

Sport Witness reports that Besiktas are preparing a potential move for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, as they seek a replacement should Tosun be torn away from the side in the New Year.

Newcastle face competition in the market for Tosun’s signature, with the forward also being linked with the likes of Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur, and it may require a club-record deal to bring the striker to Tyneside.

Benitez is still awaiting on his final budget for January but has begun to identify ideal targets.
