Newcastle United have been handed a bitter blow on the transfer market as it’s reported that they’ll face competition from a European giant for the services of a prime striking target.
Turkish outlet Fanatik report that Serie A winners Juventus sent representatives to watch Besiktas’ Cenk Tosun in action this weekend, where the international forward scored in a 3-0 victory over rivals Galatasaray.
The Turkish international has become one of Europe’s most coveted players following a fantastic return this season, with Newcastle amongst a number of Premier League sides who are looking to bring him to England.
However, the emergence of Juventus on the market would be a huge problem for Newcastle as they would not be able to compete with the Italian giants, either on a financial basis or on what they could offer the 26-year-old.
Besiktas are willing to accept a sale at the end of the season for the right price, though they have made it clear they want the striker to remain in January as they prepare for the knock-out stages of the Champions League.
