Newcastle United have slumped down the Premier League standings following their recent loss of form, which has seen them secure just one point out of the last 18 available.
The Magpies have therefore dropped to fifteenth in the table, five points above the relegation zone, and face a crucial week ahead with back-to-back home matches against Leicester City and Everton.
Both sides struggled at the start of the season but seem to have found form under their new managers, which leaves Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson predicting another defeat for Newcastle this weekend.
Writing in his weekly predictions, he said:
“Newcastle are not on a good run at the moment, and they really need a win here, but Leicester are a dangerous team. Newcastle will have to go at Leicester, and they could be picked off, like Bournemouth did to them.”
“Leicester have bought into Claude Puel’s thinking. Jamie Vardy is back and Riyad Mahrez looks like he fancies it again. Away win.”
Merson is backing an away win for Leicester, with a 2-1 scoreline, that would heap the pressure upon the Magpies.
