Newcastle are still considering a move for Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues, according to HITC.

The Magpies are looking to improve the left hand side of the defence in the January transfer window, and the website reports that this could mean Rafa Benitez will look to revive his interest in the Cape Verde international.

Rodrigues was a target for Newcastle in the summer but the Premier League side did not follow up their interest after reportedly having a £6m bid rejected by Galatasaray.

Paul Dummett’s continued absence from the first team due to a hamstring injury has meant Javier Manquillo has had to fill in at left back in recent weeks, but the Chronicle has reported that Newcastle are keen to strengthen the position this coming January.

Full back/winger Rodrigues has played eleven times in all competitions for Galatasaray this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists, but it must be said nearly all of his appearances this season have come on the left wing.
