Newcastle United are facing a testing period ahead as the club look to battle back from a poor period in the Premier League, where the Magpies have won just one of their last six matches.

Three consecutive defeats have sent Rafael Benitez’s side tumbling down the league standings and there’s also instability off the field, as the Magpies are embroiled in takeover talks that continue to drag on.

In the end, it should be a positive outcome for Newcastle United as a completed takeover should lead to increased funds that can provide the platform to build upon- and a pundit believes one thing is particularly crucial for the Magpies.

Speaking to Sky Sportsex-Arsenal striker Ian Wright stated it is vital that Newcastle keep Benitez at the club moving forward into the new era, as he believes the Spaniard can lead to much more successful times on Tyneside.

“Yeah, I think so, because they will need to attract new players and once they get going it is an amazing place to play. It is a necessity; they have to keep Rafa. They need Rafa, they need the kind of money to attract the kind of player that wants to go to the north-east and sample what they have got going on up there.”

“Once they see the passion, they will stay but they will still probably want to move on after that. To give Rafa the opportunity to be able to compete at that level. If they can sell it, I think it would be brilliant for them up there,”
