Newcastle United have performed admirably in their return to the Premier League this season but Rafael Benitez still has issues he will look to fix, particularly in attack where the Magpies have been sub-par.

The Spaniard’s side have struggled to find consistency in front of goal this season with summer signing Joselu netting just twice, Dwight Gayle yet to score and Aleksander Mitrovic seemingly ousted from the picture altogether.

With ongoing takeover talks, Newcastle will hope to improve their ranks in January and one target being regularly linked with a move to Tyneside is Besiktas forward Cenk Tosun, who’s score four goals in four Champions League matches.

His form in front of goal has attracted plenty of suitors, including Everton and Crystal Palace, but the Turkish side’s president Fikret Orman has insisted he will ask for a high price. Speaking to NTV Spor, he said:

“There’s no figure for him. These players are like my children – I have an interest in their careers. They aren’t machines. (Kylian) Mbappe went to Paris Saint-Germain for €180m, (Naby) Keita for €70 or €80m, so placing a higher value than €20m on Tosun is not crazy.”

“If Mbappe had played for Besiktas, would PSG have paid that amount? We need to raise the brand value of Turkish football.”
