Newcastle United are continuing to prepare for the January transfer window and have furthered their quest to sign one of Europe’s finest in-form strikers.
The Daily Mail states Newcastle have stepped-up their pursuit of Turkish ace Cenk Tosun, sending scouts to watch the 26-year-old in action for his nation on Monday night during a 3-2 defeat to Albania; where the Besiktas man created both goals.
Tosun has been in stellar form this season, firing four goals in four Champions League matches to help Besiktas push for a route into the knock-out stages, and the competition for his signature in January is set to be fierce.
Newcastle, likely to be aided by new financial power following a takeover, have made their interest known but the likes of Crystal Palace and West Ham are both reported to be keen on his services- and could offer him the chance to live in the capital.
Besiktas reportedly want £18m for their striker if he’s to leave in the New Year, a figure that would be their highest since the capture of Georginio Wijnaldum in 2015.
