Newcastle United are the latest side to express an interest in signing one of Leeds United’s most highly-rated talents, according to the latest reports.

Reports from Football Insider claim that Newcastle have joined Everton and Middlesbrough in the hunt to sign the Peacocks’ Mallik Wilks, who has impressed on-loan with Accrington Stanley in League Two so far this season.

The 18-year-old made his debut for Leeds earlier this year, in an FA Cup defeat to Sutton United, and Middlesbrough boss Garry Monk, who handed the teenager his debut whilst with the Yorkshire side, wants to bring him to the North East.

However, Newcastle are also keen to bring him further north and the lure of joining a Premier League club would be difficult to turn down. That said, Leeds have a strong negotiating position due to the fact he penned a contract extension earlier this year that runs until 2019.

Everton are also prepared to give him the chance to move to the top-flight but he may find first-team football easier to get on Tyneside, as Newcastle have struggled in front of goal so far this season.
