Newcastle United have been handed a timely boost with the news that Christian Atsu will not be sidelined following an injury sustained in the defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, which saw the winger substituted in the 82nd minute.
Rafael Benitez stated afterwards that Atsu had ‘felt something’ in his leg, suggesting a muscle injury, but the Ghanian Football Association confirmed today that the ace had linked up with his team-mates on international duty.

Atsu pulled out of the squad last month, due to a knee injury, but looks set to feature against Egypt this weekend as the Ghanian side look for redemption after a poor qualifying campaign that has seen them miss out on a spot in next summer’s World Cup.
Newcastle still have injury concerns though as they await the verdict on Jamaal Lascelles’ injury, which saw the captain also taken off in the defeat to Bournemouth, but there is no news yet on that front.
