Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun has responded to rumours that he may be sold in the January transfer window.

The Turkish international has been heavily linked with a £20m move to Newcastle and Crystal Palace in recent weeks, and the forward says he can scarcely believe the amounts being reported. He was quoted by the Shields Gazette as saying:

“Crazy numbers are being quoted for my transfer fee right now.”

Tosun has scored four goals in four Champions League games this season, and ten goals in total for his club. Besiktas president Fikret Orman was quoted last week as saying he believes the forward should be valued even higher than the fees being quoted.

Orman said he feels that players that play in Turkish football are generally undervalued and he would hope to sell Tosun for a much higher amount.

Magpies boss Rafa Benitez will likely be searching for another striker in the January transfer window with his current batch of forwards misfiring in front of goal. Whether the Spaniard will be given the funds to strengthen his striking options in January, it remains to be seen.
