Newcastle United are facing a crucial period ahead of them as the Magpies look to battle back from four consecutive Premier League defeats, whilst off the field Mike Ashley looks to negotiate a sale.
Amanda Staveley and PCP have long been stated to be the frontrunners to secure a deal for the Tyneside giants but a deal worth a reported £300m was rejected by Sports Direct magnate Ashley last week, as he holds out for a higher fee.
Whilst negotiations are ongoing, The Telegraph reports that there are growing fears that Staveley’s move for Newcastle could fall through- as we enter the final month ahead of Ashley’s Christmas target.
Ashley had made it clear that he wanted to complete a sale before Christmas but that now seems extremely unlikely, particularly amidst the growing concerns that a deal with PCP could fall through.
There are other investors interested in Newcastle, having signed non-disclosure agreements, but if a deal with Staveley and PCP collapses then it’s highly unlikely Rafael Benitez’s side will be handed the funds required in January to strengthen the side.
