Newcastle United face a busy six weeks ahead, as the Magpies look to conclude a takeover and start their preparations for the January transfer window.

A strong start to life in the Premier League has started to become undone in recent months, with Rafael Benitez’s side losing three matches on the bounce and standing with just one victory from their past six league games.

That form has raised significant questions as we rapidly approach the busiest period of the season but Newcastle’s January activity will not solely revolve around incoming deals, as they could lose members of their squad too.

The SunĀ reports that Championship outfit Aston Villa are eyeing a January swoop for Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow, amidst suggestions they could lose in-form loanee Sam Johnstone.

Manchester United owned Johnstone has impressed in the second-tier this season, attracting interest from West Brom, and his parent side may elect to either sell his services or send him on-loan to a Premier League side to gain further experience.

Should that happen, Villa will be in the market for a new goalkeeper and they’ve got their eyes set on Darlow- who’s spoken of his unhappiness due to a lack of first-team opportunities.

Newcastle would certainly consider a sale for the right price, particularly as they have young Freddie Woodman ready to step-up to become an understudy in the first-team.
