Isaac Hayden
Another player that could have benefitted from England’s injury nightmare in midfield, Isaac Hayden has come a long way since leaving Arsenal for Newcastle United and deserves to be rewarded by Gareth Southgate.
His omission doesn’t mean the end of the line but Hayden has performed well for the Magpies this season and deserved a look-in, particularly due to England’s severe lack of depth in central midfield areas, and Southgate may have made a big mistake.
