Newcastle United suffered a third consecutive Premier League defeat this weekend, although the Magpies were always expected to lose to Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.
Rafael Benitez’s side took the lead in the first-half but couldn’t prevent the title chasers from turning the game around, with the Red Devils finishing as 4-1 victors at Old Trafford.
The defeat means that Newcastle have won just one of their last six Premier League matches and sit just five points above the relegation zone, with crucial games against West Brom, Leicester City, Everton and West Ham before the turn of the year.
Improvements definitely need to be shown and Benitez may look to shake-up his side following the defeat, with fans taking to social media to criticise the performance of Isaac Hayden- who was judged to have been poor in the build-up to Paul Pogba’s goal.
The 22-year-old has lacked consistency in his performances this season and certainly needs to improve if he’s to retain his starting spot, as he competes with the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Mikel Merino for regular opportunities.

Wow Isaac Hayden may be one of the worst finishers and attacking players Iโve ever seen at @NUFC heโs simply not good enough #MUNNEW

Those two goals. Hayden naively trying to take the ball off of Pogba for the first, and Lejune performing the worst piece of one in one defending I've seen in a while for Smallings 2nd. #nufc
