Newcastle United fans have been revealed to have been handed the most ‘banning orders’ issued against them in England’s top four divisions, reports the Daily Star.

The Magpies top the list for the third consecutive year, having a grand total of 111 banning orders given against supporters before the new season began on August 7.

The Tyneside outfit are followed by Wolverhampton Wanderers, who had 75 and were ahead of West Ham United with 57.

Millwall followed the Hammers closely with 55, whilst Manchester United, Liverpool and Barnsley had 49, 44 and 43 respectively.

Public disorder was the most common cause of arrest, accounting for 31%, followed by violent disorder at 21% and alcohol offences at 16%.

While Newcastle unwillingly top the table, the Magpies total of 111 marks a decrease of 13 banning orders issued against supporters, with a massive 124 being dealt out in the same period the year previous.

The total amount of banning orders has also fallen nationwide, a sixth consecutive drop, from 2,085 in 2015/16 to 1,929 last year from 3,174 in 2010/11.
