Newcastle United are enjoying a superb campaign in their first year back in the Premier League but Rafael Benitez will be aware that there is still plenty of work to be done, with his side looking for a boost in January.
The Magpies have lacked consistency in front of goal this season and will be looking for additional quality as they attempt to cement their status in the top-flight, as well as providing a platform to build upon in the coming years.
Optimism at the club has risen in recent months during the ongoing takeover talks, which could hand Newcastle a financial boost for the January transfer window, and Benitez will be searching for quality to bring to his side.
For Newcastle to achieve the status they want to be, signing top-class players is necessary and the club should look to lure established players from the Champions League to Tyneside in the New Year.
Whilst it would be difficult to secure, these players need to be pursued.
