Former West Ham striker Frederic Piquionne has revealed he has talked with Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa about the 30 year old’s situation at the Ligue One club.

Ben Arfa has been linked with moves to Newcastle, Leicester City and Rennes in recent weeks and Piquionne says he told the midfielder to keep his head up. The retired striker recounted how he was forced to train with the under 18s when he was at West Ham with the Hammers looking to sell him, but he thinks Ben Arfa should stay positive in his situation.

Speaking to L’Equipe (via Foot01.com), Piquionne believes a number of top European clubs will be looking to sign him:

Today, when a club does not want a player, they do everything to push the blame on them. I told Hatem that in England a coach had sent me to play with the under 18s when I was already 32!… I see him going in December to a good Spanish or Italian club, like Roma, Napoli, Sevilla or Valencia. Or why not Dortmund.”

Last week World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry added his voice to the debate over Ben Arfa with the former Birmingham City striker advising Ben Arfa not to return to England after his previous failures at Newcastle and Hull City.
