Newcastle United face a crunch Premier League tie this evening when they travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley, a match where both high-flying and overachieving clubs will look to continue their thrilling start to the season.
The Magpies enter tonight’s fixture in eighth place but could rise as high as sixth with a win, overtaking Watford and Liverpool, whilst a defeat would see Sean Dyche’s Clarets leapfrog the Tyneside giants in the Premier League standings.
Newcastle, on the back of a three-match unbeaten run in October, will be keen to continue their fine form and secure back-to-back victories in the Premier League for the first-time since mid-November, with tonight’s game giving the Magpies a huge chance to build greatness.
Rafael Benitez’s side tackle Bournemouth next weekend, and could feasibly enter the international break on a five-match unbeaten run, and fans have made it clear who they believe will be a crucial figure this evening as they’ve earned their Spanish manager to start midfield ace Mikel Merino.
Merino, on-loan from Borussia Dortmund, has thoroughly impressed in the Premier League so far this season and the 21-year-old has established himself as a key player amidst Benitez’s ranks.
I would love to see Merino as number 10 with Gayle up top tomorrow #nufc
