Amanda Staveley has reportedly opened talks to buy Liverpool Football Club only days after rumours she was set to begin negotiations with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley over a potential takeover, reports The Mirror.

The financier, who has heavy ties to the Middle East, was present at St James’ Park last weekend as the two clubs saw out a 1-1 draw, leading to rumours that she was interested in making a move to takeover the Tyneside club.

However, it has since come to light that Staveley was instead present to watch Liverpool, the club she is well known to support, in preparation of an attempt to buy the club.

Staveley had previous offered to takeover the club last summer, however was unsuccessful.

Liverpool’s American owners Fenway Sports Group are reported to want £1 billion for the Merseyside outfit, over three times the £300 million they paid for the club in October of 2010.

The Times only recently reported that Staveley was one of a number of parties who had signed non disclosure agreements to takeover Newcastle, and that the businesswoman was keen to complete any such move before the New Year.
