Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has dropped the asking price for his club in order to speed up a sale after four potential investors have emerged, says The Mirror.

The Magpies owner is believed to have reduced his asking price for the club from more than £450 million to around £380 million in an attempt to attract interest, and is keen to part ways with the club as soon as February.

Ashley purchased the club in 2010 for as little as £134 million.

Three parties are understood to have signed non-disclosure agreements with the club ahead of any potential move, while three more are understood to be monitoring the situation before making a move.

Investors are thought to be wanting to make a move before February in order to prevent Ashley increasing his asking price after the lucrative new TV deal comes into place.

However Ashley too is understood to prefer an early sale, with the Sports Direct owner not wanting to plough money into the club this January transfer window after admitting Rafael Benitez’s side need ‘significant investment’ in order to help the club return to it’s former glory.
