Newcastle United struggled to create clear cut chances against Burnley last night, and it left manager Rafa Benitez bemoaning one mistake which allowed their opponents to clinch a 1-0 win.
It was always going to be a tight affair against Sean Dyche’s men. Both managers pride themselves on defensive solidity, and neither side were willing to give away anything cheaply.
The lack of cutting edge in attack has been a concern for the Magpies, especially away from home this season. Benitez’s side have scored three goals on the road so far with four points in their five games played. Their only win away from St James Park came in another tight affair against Swansea in a 1-0 victory back in September.
On Twitter, Newcastle fans were not particularly pleased with the lifeless display but many supporters were keen to remind people that the club have had an excellent start back in the top flight; something that shouldn’t be taken for granted:

Nah with an ambitious owner we could attract pretty much any manager. Why stick with one who play such boring football? Not worth it #nufc

True, but some of the stuff I've seen on Twitter is like we've been relegated! There will be up and downs this season but we'll be fine. #nufc

#NUFC The away performances are frustrating. With a bit more ambition and belief we could have got something from the three 1-0 defeats.
