Newcastle United have enjoyed a successful start to life back in the Premier League, sat seventh in the table after nine matches and keeping four clean sheets during the campaign so far.

Rafael Benitez’s leadership has certainly led to a vast improvement for the Magpies, who are facing better times with takeover talks behind the scenes rumbling on- with the aim to have a deal concluded by Christmas.

The Spanish boss was said to be unhappy in the summer due to a lack of funds being made available but he did secure some deals, with Mikel Merino coming in from Borussia Dortmund and performing excellently in the heart of midfield.

Not everyone has been an instant success though and Jacob Murphy, signed from Norwich, hasn’t been a regular in the side and has started just once for the Magpies, in the victory over Swansea, and has seen three further appearances off the bench lead to an accumulation of just 20 more minutes of action.

Benitez insists he has faith in the 22-year-old but wants to see improvements- and the general consensus from the supporters is that they trust their manager to do the right thing.
