Newcastle United are flying-high in the Premier League this season and currently sit seventh, way above their expectations and with a huge sense of optimism at the club due to ongoing takeover talk.

Rafael Benitez’s side have been excellent this season but, with just nine games played, there’s still plenty of work to be done and Monday night’s clash with Burnley, another side who have been performing above expectations, will be extremely difficult.

The Clarets have the fact they’re at home on their side, although Newcastle enter the game on the back of a three match undefeated run- which includes a draw against Liverpool and last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

DeAndre Yedlin has been one of the starring men for Benitez’s side this season and he lifted the lid on the club’s spirit behind the scenes, though he told The Chronicle that there’s still a long way to go this season.

“It’s great but we can’t get ahead of ourselves. There’s still a lot more to do and it’s still so early in the season. We will just keep pushing and try to get the results we need.”

“It will be tough (against Burnley) – 100%. Every game in this league is tough. People will probably look at the win against Crystal Palace, bottom of the table, and think it was easy but it wasn’t easy by any means. It took literally the whole game to beat them. They had chances as well and every team will be a threat.”

“Every week it will be tough and every game we will have to battle. We’re prepared for it.”

A victory for Newcastle could see the Magpies rise as high as fourth in the table, should other results go their way, but it will crucially continue a run of form that has been fantastic and one that bodes well for the remainder of the campaign.
