Data experts at the CIES Football Observatory say that the value of Newcastle’s squad has grown in excess of £30 million since the start of the season.

Rafael Benitez’s side has enjoyed a fine start to the new season having picked up 10 points from their opening 7 games.

After losing their opening two games – which saw many condemn the newly promoted side to relegation already – Newcastle have won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five games, making them one of the Premier League’s most in-form sides.

Such has been their good form, that CIES believes the value of the club’s players has grown significantly since middle of August.

The Swiss organisation measure their valuations based on a metric which takes into account personal performances, the club they’re playing for, age, contract status and the level they’ve been playing at.

Their calculations, which have been used by scouts at the club in past, have seen players such as Jamaal Lascelles dramatically increase to a value of over £10 million for the first time in his career.

All players except three (Dwight Gayle, Florian Lejeune and Jacob Murphy) have risen in value, taking the squads total estimated market value to £151m, an increase £30.19m since the last statistics were posted at the end of July.
