Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is to be given a huge £500 million transfer purse should financier Amanda Staveley take over the club, reports The Express.
The Spaniard, who was left frustrated during the summer with current owner Mike Ashley’s refusal to part way with money for transfer, however he will is now set for a free reign over transfers should Staveley complete her takeover of the Tyneside club as expected.
Staveley was in the stands at St James Park for Newcastle’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool towards the start of the month, sparking rumours she was interested in buying the club.
And now, after Mike Ashley has officially put the club up for sale after a decade long tenure at it’s helm, it is thought a deal is on the brink of being completed.
Staveley is lining up a £300m bid for the Magpies which is some £100 million short of Ashley’s valuation of the club but talks are set to continue in a bid to agree a deal.
