Going hand-in-hand with an injection of funds, the new board will need to quickly build a strong relationship with current manager Rafael Benitez- and a lot of that will come down to assuring the Spanish boss that he’ll be handed the financial support he wants to bolster his side.

Nobody is suggesting hundreds of millions of pounds needs to be made available to rival the spending of the likes of Manchester United but money needs to be there to buy a top-class player, should they become available and willing to move to Tyneside.
