The closing few weeks of the transfer window could prove to be a busy period for Newcastle United after all.

Indeed, while it’s been a difficult period for the Toon Army – with Rafa Benitez publically admitting he was unhappy with dealings on Tyneside – the Magpies are thought to be closing in on a loan deal for Chelsea’s Brazilian winger, Kenedy.

He’ll become Newcastle’s sixth addition of the summer and, according to Lee Ryder, the club are looking into the loan market in their hunt for a new marksman.

Tammy Abraham already chose to join Swansea City on loan from the Blues, leaving Benitez with only Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle as realistic central striking options heading into the Premier League campaign.

The club are thought to have a couple of options in mind in terms of a loan signing to bolster their front line, while the likes of Lucas Perez and Joselu recently touted as permanent targets.

Any signing now won’t feature against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, though keeping Rafa happy is of paramount importance to the club, if they are going to consolidate themselves in the top tier once more.
